worldywca-logoDear Sisters of the European YWCAs,

We're getting started on our preparations for the European Study Session 2010!

As you know, the European YWCAs Study Session 2010 will be held at the European Youth Centre in Budapest from the 11th to the 18th of April 2010, around the theme preparing us for World Council 2011 "European Young Women Creating A Safe World".

The aims and objectives of our Study Session are:

Aims

  • To develop and sustain young women leadership and to promote young women as decision.-makers
  • To share and build on the knowledge in respect of creating a safe world.
  • To network and deepen relationships among European young women.

Objectives

  • Participants gain knowledge on the issues related to the creation of a safer world for them as individuals and as part of a wider movement.
  • Participants exchange experiences and ideas on how to make the world a safer place for young women, especially in Europe.
  • Participants are empowered with ideas to implement at their national and local YWCA's on projects that have emerged during the SS10
  • Participants feel empowered
  • Participants are equipped with the skills to showcase their event and continue networking through the use of technology (Facebook, Twitter, Blogs).
  • Participants prepare to take up a leadership role at the World YWCA Council in 2011 with the same theme.

Therefore, please find attached herewith the application form to apply for the Study Session, to be returned on February the 22nd at the latest, along with a draft programme of the session.

Participants:

In order to help you with the identification of your participants, we have outlined the following criteria :

  • are of age 18 – 30
  • actively involved in a local and/or national YWCA or another organisation mentioned above
  • are or willing to be involved in activities or projects on young women’s leadership development
  • motivated to share relevant experiences and to contribute to the success of the seminar
  • able to carry out the follow up activity
  • able to work and communicate in English or Russian
  • committed to attend full duration of the seminar

For the associations that are scheduled to send two participants, we would suggest that you send a young woman who's already benefited from exposure, along with a young woman who hasn't, so as to have a sense of balance and equality. It would also be good if you could put forward the name of young women who will attend World Council 2011.

Financial Information:

- Travel Expenses: The reimbursement will be done by the European Youth Centre, either by transfer or by cash, on site. Should your association not be able to pay, please contact us directly. The European YWCAs would be able to pay on your behalf and get reimbursed afterwards.

- Enrolment Fee: There will be an enrolment fee of 50 Euros, that will be deducted from the travel reimbursement

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. We're looking forward to receiving your applications and make this event a great success!!

Warmest Regards
