The international dimension of the work of the YMCA in Europe becomes more and more important. We are all on our way to develop into Global Citizenship. Voluntary board members as well as volunteers of all kinds learn about the work of the YMCA by, for example, the YMCA-Festival; participating in the General Assembly; the YES-group; the World Council of the World Alliance which in 2010 will carry “Global Citizenship” as its leading theme and all kind of other international activities. YMCA Europe has an ambitious strategy to strengthen the international co-operation within the YMCA and between YMCA’s. This asks for involved and strong leadership of motivated volunteers and professionals. Therefore YMCA Europe offers the possibility to qualified and promising (board) members of YMCA’s in Europe to follow a training (a Master Class) about the international dimension of the YMCA work and especially of YMCA Europe. This Master Class can strengthen the international dimension of your work in your own national/regional/local YMCA, but it also can be the stepping stone to qualified new members of boards and committees in YMCA Europe.

Aim
The aim of the Master Class is to train selected volunteers in the international dimensions of the work of YMCA Europe with the perspective of stimulating the work in their own national YMCA and/or fulfilling roles in YMCA Europe.

For whom?
Participation is open for active volunteers from YMCA’s in Europe. For instance:

• Promising volunteers (“high potentials”) who have capacities to grow into international committees and representations
• Members of national/regional/local YMCA Boards
• Members of committees for international contacts within their YMCA
• Volunteers representing YMCA Europe in international groups

Are you interested? Please contact your National General Secretary or one of the contact persons mentioned in this leaflet. The number of participants is limited to a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 25.

How?

The Master Class will take place in 2 weekends in 2010. In that period in between the participants have to work out a task as part of the programme. The 2 weekends for training will take place in the YMCA Europe Training Centre in Litomysl (Czech Republic). An optional 3rd. weekend (not included in the price) will take place after having consulted the participants in the course and will have the character of a field visit showing international YMCA work in practice. The training is lead by experienced volunteers, staff members and invited guest speakers. During the training interactive methods as well as lectures and discussions will be used. Leaders of the training are Johan Vilhelm Eltvik, Peter Posner and Ed Eggink. The working language is English.

When?
The first weekend will take place from Friday 7th. May (evening) until Sunday 9th. May 2010 (noon). The second weekend is planned for Friday 29th. October (evening) until Sunday 31st. October 2010 (noon).

Costs
The participation fee for 2 weekends will be € 495,=. This includes per weekend transportation Prague Airport– Litomysl v.v.; documentation; 2 nights accommodation in the Training Centre; 2 breakfasts; 2 lunches and 2 dinners. Travel costs from your home country to Prague are not included.
