YWCA stands for Young Women's Christian Association and YMCA for Young Men's Christian Association. In most countries, the YWCA and the YMCA are seperate, but in Sweden there is just one organisation, for both men and women.
KFUK-KFUM is the Swedish translation of YWCA-YMCA. We are a movement based on Christian values, but you don't have to be a confessing Christian to feel at home with us. Everyone is welcome, regardless of religous beliefs, nationality, race, gender, opinions or social position.
KFUK-KFUM is the oldest and largest international youth movement in Sweden. Today the YWCA-YMCA of Sweden consists of 500 local associations and 70 000 members involved in sports, scouting, youth clubs, choirs etc. Our core work is with young people aged between 12 and 25 although its range of programs meets the needs of all ages from babies to senior citizens.
Body.Mind.Spirit.
The YWCA-YMCA has a clear concept: We offer venues where young people can feel good and thrive. Our philosophy is equally clear: We believe all people, especially young ones, have the needs of physical exerexercise,
intellectual stimulation and time to reflect in order to cise, thrive and feel good. Our triangle symbolizes these three stepping stones: Body, Mind and Spirit. One is not more important than the other. Together they form a unity. Just like all human beings.
